- חַרְדָּלm. (חד, with ר inserted; cmp. גַּד I) mustard. Kil. I, 2 ח׳ וח׳ המצרי common mustard and Egyptian mustard. Ber.40a הרגיל בח׳וכ׳ he who is used to take mustard once in Ib. 31a, a. e. כח׳ as large as a grain of mustard; a. fr.Pl. חַרְדְּלִים, חַרְדְּלִין. Cant. R. to VI, 11 כמה ח׳ ever so many grains of B. Bath.25b הרחק דבורך מן חַרְדְּלַיי keep thy bee-hive from my mustard plants; ib. 18a חַרְדְּלַאי (Ms. F. a. R. חרדלַי).
